Join the likes of The beauty and the Beast and Aladdin As the next animated Disney feature originally to gain live-action remake status, Pinocchio is getting a facelift in 2022. And boy, are we thrilled.
Based on Carlo Collodi’s 1883 novel The Adventures of Pinocchio, the 1940 animated version and upcoming live-action version follow the story of Tuscan woodcarver Geppetto who wishes a star for a son who then sees a puppet he had made come to life.
The puppet boy, Pinocchio, continues his quest to become “real”, while encountering truth and morality challenges along the way. (Now that’s your cue, Jiminy Cricket!).
And if the trailer – featuring Tom Hanks as Geppetto wishing for a star and a visit from Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy – is anything to go by, we’re all in for a big nostalgic treat.
