Disney Investor Day was a busy and successful day, to say the least. If you missed it, Disney has announced a slew of new movies, series, and projects coming soon! Among the plethora of huge announcements for the day was Disney Animation Studios’ report on new animated series coming to Disney+ and a new animated movie!

First, Disney Animation’s first-ever original animated series will be making its way to Disney+! These series include Baymax!, Tiana, and Zootopia+ to be published in 2022, and Moana: the series to be released in 2023. Next, Disney Animation is teaming up with pan-African entertainment company Kugali for an all-new sci-fi series called Iwájú which is slated for release in 2022.

Finally, Disney Animation Studios is bringing the country and culture of Colombia to theaters (while waiting for the pandemic) with their brand new animated film Encanto! Directed by Byron Howard and Jared Bush, the film surrounds a magical family in a unique magical house in Colombia. Charise Castro Smith co-directed and co-wrote the film, while musical mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote the music for this film.
